The 2nd Rural Livelihood Summit - FPO SHGs Gram Udyog was organized by The Bengal Chamber in Association with Department of Food Processing Industries & Horticulture, Anandadhara - WBSRLM - Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Department of Animal Husbandry. It was held on 7th October 2023 in Kolkata. The concurrent exhibition saw participation from over 230 attendees, including 80 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The summit was graced by the presence of Sri Arup Roy, the Hon'ble Minister in Charge, Food Processing Industries and Horticulture, GoWB, as the Chief Guest. The initiative was supported by NABARD, State Bank of India, IIFCO, West Bengal Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters' Association, Bangiyo Grameen Vikash Bank, Ramnagar Seed Farm Pvt Ltd. International Partner of the Initiative is India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry. One of the key highlights of the summit was the Buyer Seller Meet, which served as a crucial platform for establishing market linkages for FPOs and SHGs. This initiative aimed to connect these rural enterprises with potential buyers, facilitating trade and growth. Furthermore, the event featured an impressive exhibition showcasing the products and initiatives of FPOs and SHGs. The focus on exports was evident, emphasizing the importance of tapping into international markets for rural livelihoods. The participation of various government departments underscored the commitment to supporting rural development. Additionally, the presence of prominent buyers like Emami, Spencer's, and Big Basket signaled significant opportunities for rural enterprises to access larger markets and gain visibility. Overall, the 2nd Rural Livelihood Summit was a significant step towards empowering rural communities, fostering economic growth, and bridging the gap between producers and buyers in the agricultural and rural sectors.
