22nd India International Mega Trade Fair, 16th December 2023 – 1st January 2024, The Science City Ground
The 22nd India International Mega Trade Fair was organised by The Bengal Chamber and G S Marketing Associates. IIMTF Inaugural Ceremony of the India International Mega Trade Fair was held on December 16, 2023 : 4.00 PM at The Science City Ground. The IIMTF continued until January 1, 2024.
The 22nd India International Mega Trade Fair had 1050 stalls this year from 20 countries. The Partner Countries are Afghanistan and Bangladesh and Focus Countries are Thailand and Iran. Australia and Myanmar are Highlighted Countries.
It had participation from the length and breadth of the country. Delhi and Tamil Nadu are the Partner States and Karnataka and Jammu and Kashmir are the Focus States. Highlighted States are Gujarat and Kerala. 23 States have participated in total this year. Of course the Host State is West Bengal.
We were privileged to have Dr. Shashi Panja, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Industry, Commerce and Enterprises, Government of West Bengal and Shri Sujit Bose, Hon’ble Minister of State, Fire and Emergency Services with Independent Charge, Government of West Bengal at the Inaugural Ceremony. Mr Gautam Ray, President was also present, along with Janab Andalib Elias, Hon’ble Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh and Mr Tin Moe, Counsul General , Consulate-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at the Inaugural Ceremony.
The stalls were offering various kinds of products including Food, Clothing, Furniture, Interior, Electronic appliances, HealthCare, Cosmetics & Lifestyle, Handicrafts & Consumer Durables.
The direct selling industry in West Bengal has come close to the Rs 2,000-crore mark. With the notification of the Direct Selling Rules in 2021, followed by the establishment of West Bengal State Monitoring Authority on Direct Selling, more credible opportunities will be created for micro-entrepreneurs who wish to take it up professionally.
The strength of the consumer base of Kolkata is manifested by the journey of the India International Mega Trade Fair over the past 22 years.
With the advent of digital influence in our lifestyle, e-commerce poses a challenge to direct selling industry. The unique feature of the India International Mega Trade Fair is of course getting such a wide range of products from different countries and states, and moreover authentic products at competitive prices.
Footfall was between 50000 to 55000 visitors per day. Beyond, buying and selling, we are happy to bring together people with the spirit of celebration.
