The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized the 1st Edition of Biz Tech Startup Quiz, in association with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) Bengaluru, on 9th March 2024, at MAHE Bengaluru Campus. 

The first edition of Biz Tech Startup Quiz brought together Startups and Startup enthusiasts for an infotainment day. The questions touched the domains of business and technology. 

This was a unique platform, which offered Startups to network with each other and helped to connect with Investors and successful entrepreneurs. The participants for this Quiz were Startups and Startup enthusiasts (Unicorns, Soonicorns, Ideation stage startups, Employees of startups, PE investors, VCs, Incubators, Students etc).

Mr. Harinarayan Sharma, CEO, Manipal Foundation & Senior Vice President, MEMG International India Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Ashwat Anand Rao, Assistant Professor of Commerce, Manipal Centre for Innovation Leadership and Entrepreneurship; Dr. Raghavendra Prabhu , Deputy Register, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE),Bengaluru ; Mr. Gaurav K Punjabi, GM-Events and Marketing, Digital Economy Mission Karnataka; Prof Daya Sagar, Head, Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore Center; Mr. Jayanta Saha, CEO and Founder, Softthink Intelligent Pvt. Ltd; Mr. Rajat Subhra Roy, Director, Adamas Tech Consulting Pvt Ltd ; Mr Gaurav Yadav, Deputy Director, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and Mr. Kumar Ayush , Senior Data Scientist , Altair were present cheering the teams and presenting the Award.

The team, comprising of Mr B Naveen Kumar from Hyderabad and Mr Jayakanthan R from Chennai were the Winners; where the team from Mumbai, comprising of Mr Rajarshi Chanda and Mr Meghashyam Shirodkar stood as 1st Runners Up and the team comprising of Mr. Jameer KB (Cochin) and Mr Preetham Upadhya (Bengaluru) stood as 2nd Runners Up. 

The Winners had been awarded with prize money of ₹ 50,000 along with trophy and medal. The 1st Runners Up had been awarded with prize money of ₹ 30,000 along with trophy and medal, while the Second Runners Up had been awarded with the prize money of ₹ 20,000 along with trophy and medal. 

We also had three special prizes for the top 3 teams from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, who put up a brilliant performance -Winners- Mr. Akhilesh Kumaravel & Mr. Ayushmaan Deb; 1st Runners up- Mr. Nishant Shet & Mr. Daksh Mutneja; 2nd Runners up- Mr. Animesh Mishra & Mr. Sampreet Byali.

One of the most memorable aspects of this quiz was the energy from the audience, who packed the auditorium till the end of the quiz. One of our distinguished guests – Mr. Harinarayan Sharma, CEO, Manipal Foundation & Senior Vice President, MEMG International India Pvt. Ltd. won the audience prize by a stellar answer. Significant number of Startups enthusiasts from varied domains and renowned companies like Barclays, Big Basket, Fujitsu participated. Students from pioneering institutes like Praxis Business School and MAHE also joined. Teams participated from other cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kochi.

Premier Institute, like MAHE, has joined The Bengal Chamber, along with corporates like ITC Ltd and other business houses like ALTAIR India, Adamas Tech Consulting Pvt Ltd., Softthink Intelligent Solutions Pvt Ltd exemplifying a collaborative effort on how the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) and prominent industries in the country are recognizing the importance of accelerating the startup ecosystem in Bangalore and beyond. Eminent industry leaders, Angel Investors and VCs graced the award ceremony and also lent their support to this programme.
