The Legal Committee of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized its Annual session by Hon’ble Justice Soumen Sen from Calcutta High Court on "Intellectual Property - Innovation and Adjudication" on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. onwards, conducted virtually.

Mr Prasanta Dutta welcomed Hon’ble Justice Soumen Sen on behalf of the Chamber and highlighted on the importance of Intellectual Property Rights.

Hon’ble Justice Soumen Sen began his address discussing the dynamic landscape of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), focusing notably on the Pharmaceutical Industry and Patent Rights. He highlighted the significant strides made in these domains, particularly concerning the intersection of AI and IPR, and underscored the forthcoming regulations awaiting notification. Justice Sen underscored the importance of negotiation strategies, advocating for cost-effective mediation or settlement approaches. This session aimed to provide insights into the evolving IPR landscape, emphasizing the need for effective legal frameworks and pragmatic dispute resolution methods to navigate the complexities of modern innovation and technology.

The session received an overwhelming response with a total of 500 plus participants, including Advocates, Solicitors, Attorneys, other Legal Professionals, and Law students, as well as executives and professionals from various conglomerates and start-ups.
