Minerals, Mining and Metals Conclave: “Preparedness towards the Future as Team India”, January 19, 2024, Swasti Premium, Bhubaneswar


Minerals, Mining and Metals Conclave is a flagship, annual event of the Bengal Chamber, which has addressed the burning issues of the industry and witnessed the participation of esteemed speakers from across the industry and the Ministry. The programme over the years has created a sensation in minerals, mining, metals and the allied industry throughout the country. 

Odisha, situated on the eastern seaboard of India is one of the gifted parts of the world, where a gamut of mineral resources exists in bounty. Last year we had aptly chosen our theme to showcase the success story of Cooperative Federalism in these sectors focusing Odisha. We had discussed National issues alongside the issues of the States. Challenges and opportunities in these sectors were discussed and analyzed how both the Centre and the State together can address such issues and ensure the growth of the Nation amidst a dynamic geo political situation. This exercise is an introspect of any State that how the combined efforts of the Centre and the State can work miracle which our Hon’ble Prime Minister has quoted as “Role of Centre and State as Team India.” 

This year too we continued with our thought laying stress on our Prime Minister’s vision of Team India and organising our Mega Conclave on 19th January. Eminent personae from Industry participated which included Mr. Thomas M. Cherian, Managing Director, Essel Mining & Industries Limited; Mr. Pankaj Kumar Satija, Executive in-Charge, Ferro Alloys & Minerals Division, Tata Steel Ltd., Mr. Piyush Srivastava, Chief NRD, Tata Steel Ltd., Mr. Ravi Ranjan, Head- Mineral Auction and Strategies, JSPL- Angul, Mr. Manoj Kumar K, Regional Manager, Sambalpur, BEML Limited and others.

We are extremely thankful to Mr. Rana Som, Mentor, Minerals & Mining Committee, BCC&I and Former CMD, NMDC, Mr. Tuhin Kumar Mukherjee, Chairperson, Minerals and Mining Committee, BCC&I and Advisor- Mineral Resource & Mining, Aditya Birla Management Corporation Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Chairperson, Metals Committee and MD, TSDPL for guiding us in organizing a programme of this scale and repute. 

The Minerals Mining and the Metals Committee of the Bengal Chamber aim for an overall development of Eastern India with Odisha, being the hub of Minerals and Mining, taking the lead. The sessions discussed global issues like sustainability and technology upgradation and also took a deep look into how the current Geo Political situation weighs on the Indian Mineral and Metal market especially on the Iron and Steel markets and thereby strengthening the growth as Team India.
