There was an exclusive signing and exchange of MoU between IIEST Shibpur and BCC&I on 26th August 2024 at The Bengal Chamber Premises.

The objective of this MoU was to facilitate an industry-academia connect through the collaboration of IIEST Shibpur and The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

The meeting began with a presentation session where ideas about bridging industry and academia through the collaboration were discussed. Objectives, strategic advantages, operational framework, and a potential roadmap were addressed. 

The partnership aims to facilitate vibrant interactions between institutions to help MSMEs overcome limitations in conducting their own training programmes. The collaboration will focus on co-branded courses, practice-based learning, and research initiatives. These will align academic advancements with industry requirements, facilitating commercialisation through "lab to market" connections.

Conventional industries such as foundry, casting, and textiles in West Bengal require sustainable practices and technological upgrades to reduce pollution and increase market competitiveness. A sustainable production system can rejuvenate these industries and increase employment.

The collaboration is also supposed to explore opportunities to offer certificate courses in industry-specific areas, quickly adapting to changing industry demands and enhancing the skill set of both students and professionals.
